An
eerie Southern ghost town magically appears from out of nowhere,
populated with murdered souls from the Civil War. The none-too-friendly
Rebels are back to celebrate the centennial of the wars
end by ambushing, torturing and mutilating any Yankee
unfortunate enough to stroll into town! An unbelievable gross
out marathon from the great H.G.. Lewis, 1960 Americas
early independent "godfather of gore". Features
all sorts of gruesome hijinks, as the killings get increasingly
more carnival-like in their grisly inventiveness. Campy as
hell, with acting straight out of a 60s educational
film, and of course, gory as fuck, the film still manages
to achieve a truly disturbing atmosphere of small town anger
as it hacks towards its splatterific finale. It played American
Drive Ins for more than three years. As essential as they
come. (MD)
Une
ville fantôme habitée par les âmes de gens
assassinés lors de la Guerre Civile fait son apparition
pour en commémorer la fin. Les âmes torturent
et mutilent tous les Yankees qui, par mégarde, s'aventurent
dans la ville. Nouvelle copie 35mm.
